We are conscious of the traceability of what pesticides and fertilizers we use, never compromising on products that can be harmful to human consumption. We strive to find ways to lower our carbon footprint, utilizing local wind-turbine-power supply, and even making bio-diesel. Lastly, we want the buyer to be sure that buying our product has helped us to pay competitive wages and provide extra benefits to our workers.

Value Adding

A packhouse is an important link in the value chain. Once fruit arrives in the packhouse we cannot make fruit any

better, that magic happens in the orchards and pivot irrigation fields, yet we strive to package and present our product in a clean, neat and pleasing way. To ensure the longevity and optimal shelf-life of the product, we handle the fruit with great care on the way to the shelf. The safety of our employees in the workplace and of food they make is one of the fundamental operating principles that guides our work. Our facilities are audited using globally recognized food safety criteria.

Marketing

Namakwaland Plase/Farms provides a vehicle for the local farmer in our region, to penetrate local fresh food markets.

Supermarkets and hypermarkets are popular distribution channels for fresh food in South Africa. We are actively pursuing to become a producer of choice to these retailers, through consistency, quality, and ethical business practice.
We are honored to partner with Capespan as our primary International marketing agent sharing the same core values. Capespan markets fresh fruit to more than 60 countries on four continents throughout the year. In addition, Capespan provides supply service solutions to international fruit trading partners, develop strategic partnerships and ensure that all our stakeholders receive outstanding value – always!

Furthermore, we employ full-time Spiritual Counselor for the people. We support deserving young people with bursaries for further studies after school. Training

In partnership with our local churches, and specifically the “Work-4-a-living” program we ensure our workers

understand proper work ethics and core skills. Our Workers have chosen their democratically elected Workers Committee, which ensures the workers are heard and represented at management level. We provide regular training opportunities to up-skill the workforce to new technologies in Agriculture. Once a year we do a Team-Building Activity day, and a special Thanksgiving Evening organized by the Workers.
